Course Description

The original golf course at Mauna Lani Resort was an 18-hole layout called "The Classic," designed by Homer Flint and Raymond Kane, and first opened to the golfing public in the early 1980s.
A decade later, Robin Nelson split the course into two parts and added nine more holes to the original nine, creating a layout that measures 6,913 yards on the north side and 6,938 yards on the south side, both of which play to par 72.
The South Course is probably the better known of the two courses, having hosted televised Senior Skins games from 1990 to 2000, with Raymond Floyd winning five consecutive tournaments beginning in 1994.
The North Course winds around the resort's private grounds, passing through kiawe trees and black lava fields, and requires a little more skill to play, as wild goats can be seen cutting the native grasses alongside the fairways.
The course's four par-3s are memorable, but the 132-yard 17th hole is a notch above the rest. Played from an elevated tee that leads to an amphitheater-like green at the bottom of a lava bowl, this hole is a can't-miss photo opportunity.

The North Course represents the quintessential golf experience on the Island of Hawaii. Built on a lava bed, the North is characterized by 18 holes of rolling terrain punctuated by Kiawe (mesquite) forests. A 230-acre protected archaeological district lies on the northern boundary of the golf course. No.17, a par three tucked into a natural lava amphitheater, is the resort's signature hole and a favorite "I was here" photo spot. This course has become one of the most popular tournament venues on the Island.
